Appointments and Departures: 

 Dr Alison James has left the practice after working with us over the last four years. Dr James joined us following our Courtfield Practice merger. She became a central member of our team and we will all miss her. She is taking up a new post closer to her home. We also said farewell to Dr Clare Thompson who has decided to work in the private sector based at the Courtfield Medical Practice. We wish the both well with their future careers.

We have been joined by three new assistant GPs.  Dr Antony Chesterman trained in Sydney, Australia and has relocated to the UK with his family. Dr Thanh Mai Nguyen trained in Paris and completed her GP Training in London. Dr Toby Dean trained in Nottingham and is familiar with our area having previously worked in Worlds End. We are delighted to welcome them all to our team.

Registrar and FY2 Doctors: 

Our current GP registrar is Dr Sonali Dasgupta. Our registrars are fully qualified doctors finishing their GP training on the Riverside GP Training Scheme, based at Chelsea & Westminster Hosptial. They work closely with Dr Tim Rees, who is their trainer and also the Programme Director for GP Training for Riverside Specialist GP Training Scheme.

Our current Foundation Year 2 (FY2) doctor is Dr Pr Anne Kjerrstrom. She is completing her registration as a doctor and works closely under the supervision of Dr Suzanne Farrar and other senior doctors in the team.

Doctor Butler's ongoing role as chair of West London Clinical Commissioning Group: 

Dr Fiona Butler continues to chair the board of the West London Clinical Commissioning Group (WLCCG). Dr Butler has a passionate interest in the commissioning of exceptional primary care, and will be working to ensure that a high quality, value for money service is delivered to all our patients. As a result, she will be doing fewer surgeries at Redcliffe Street but will try to ensure her regular patients get the opportunity to see her whenever possible. We understand that this is likely to lead to disappointment at times and the need to see another doctor, but her role as CCG Chair is vital to ensure that high quality patient care continues to be provided wherever possible to our locality.

Responsible Doctors: 

We have now assigned all our patients aged 75 and over a named responsible doctor. We will inform all patients reaching this age who their responsible doctor is on a quarterly basis after they have reached their 75th birthday. All other patients of all ages are also now asigned to a GP. Should you wish to know your asigned GP please ask the reception team.

CQC Report July 2015 - Redcliffe receives a GOOD rating: 

The Care Quality Commission (CQC) inspected our practice on Thursday 9th July 2015. The inspectors were delighted to be able to talk to many of our patients visiting the surgery that day and passed on some your kind comments relating to the service you received at the surgery, for which we are very grateful!

We have received the final report which gave us a GOOD rating across all domains. We are very pleased to know that the CQC felt we were offering our patients a safe, effective and modern health service. Please see the CQC section of our website to access the full report.

My Care, My Way

Since autumn 2015 the practice has piloted a new system of health care now called 'My Care, My Way'. This is aimed at our more frail or elderly patients who unfortunately suffer many illnesses requiring complex care planning by their GPs to avoid the need to have to attend emergency services or be admitted to hospital unexpectedly. We wish to give such patients the tools they need to remain independent in their communities and take more control over their care. Such patients are asked if they would like to be assigned a health care manager to identify their health needs and working with their GP put in place a detailed plan to help them know how to seek help at all times regarding their health. This, we hope will be especially useful when the surgery might be closed and also involve carers or relatives in the planning process to ensure our more frail patients get the best possible care at all times.

From this April, we are contacting patients we believe would benefit from this type of health care to attend the new facility at the Violet Melchett Clinic in Chelsea SW3 (also known as the South Hub) for longer appointments with their new health care manager and GP.  This Hub houses additional services such as specialist nurses and hospital consultant input as well as ancilliary services such as podiatry all under one roof. It is hoped that patients who have complex needs and visiting the Hub for a review of their health needs can at the same time benefit from accessing the additional services housed at the hub during their visit.

This is an very exciting and major change in the way that we will be providing your health care. Your usual GP will see you at the Hub and transport will be available for those who genuinely need it to attend. Facing the World is a children's charity. With your help we can give a child a chance to smile. Dr Rees is the Charity GP helping support the children and their guardians when they are undergoing treatment at our local hospitals. This is done outside of his NHS commitments.
